* LaughingBear steps up to the marked tree and seems to draw up power from the surrounding atmosphere. Abruptly, his hand bursts forth into flame, and he strikes the rune carved upon the tree. * The rune smolders, and the wood of the tree around it turns black. As scorch marks begin to mar the run, the bluish flames surrounding each of the skeletal wolves gutter like lanterns in a gale. * Dral1 whips his chain around, grabbing the wolf by its rear legs, and sends it sailing a good ten feet through the air, to land on its back on the dirt. He skips backward, but in his distraction at the sheer number of enemies, gets his leg savaged by a skeletal wolf as he goes. * Dral2 summons forth a wolf companion to distract his foes. The wolf snarls and swiftly bites down on a skeletal wolf. Dral then turns on his nearby attacker and swings his quarterstaff, missing in his haste. * The skeletal wolves crowd around their living counterpart, snarling and snapping silently. One of them gets its jaws around the wolf's leg, but is unable to bring the summoned animal down. The other wolves have less luck. The larger two harrying Klizurk and Dral2 remain unable to get their teeth firmly on anything important. Meanwhile, the smaller wolves, no longer content to stay on the periphery, charge the chain-wielding dral. * Dral1 wraps his ever-present chain around the wolf's muzzle and twists, whipping the wolf around himself to toss it off towards its buddies. * Their attack ends poorly, especially for the leading wolf; that one ends up a few yards away and on its side. The only sound it makes is an eerily quiet 'crunch'. * Klizurk, having drawn the attention of the alpha, takes off to flank the pups with Dral1, easily avoiding attacks as she gets into position and misses with a strike of her own. "Need some help?" * LaughingBear, meanwhile, maintains a determined look as he strikes at the rune again with his flaming hand. * By now, the rune has by now become a blackened scar, unrecognizable as a rune at all. The wood around the former rune is badly scorched, as well. The ghostly blue flames surrounding the wolves flares white with the burning of the rune, and then fades away completely. * Dral1 darts forward, seeing an opening, and slams one spiked end of his chain down at the wounded wolf, but misses by a hair, gouging out a chunk of dirt. * Dral2 refocuses his efforts and lands a solid blow to an exposed side of the skeletal wolf. Meanwhile, his summoned ally takes another bite, but misses as his enemy darts quickly back. * The skeletal wolves continue to snap at the live one, but are unable to get ahold of it this time. Meanwhile, the omega clamps its teeth down on Dral1... only to find itself biting at empty shadows as the warrior slips just out of its grasp. Master says the best defense is to not be where the other guy is aiming. * The pups turn on Klizurk, biting at her legs too timidly to connect. Meanwhile the larger wolf pursues its Kith opponent and manages to lunge past her defenses. Its teeth scrape across the chain links of Klizurk's armor, though, and find no purchase. * Klizurk charges through the mass of wolf pups and away from the alpha wolf to flank the omega as her sword glows white as she swings it upwards at the omega, clanking against the bones of the creature without landing a solid hit. "Stand, STILL." * LaughingBear, having destroyed the rune on the marked tree, moves forward to punch at the nearest skeletal wolf pup with his flame-engulfed fist, but he trips slightly on a root and misses. * Dral1 dances through the forest shadows, whipping the chain through gaps in the foliage with no apparent concern that it might get caught, ripping apart one of the wolves as he dances within Klizurk's protective curtain. * The struck wolf is crushed under the blow, its broken body collapsing to the forest floor. * Dral2 brings down his quarterstaff for another solid hit on the alpha wolf. * The wolves close in, silently snarling and biting as they harrass the recruits. A few lipliess jaws find purchase here and there, but the abominations fail to drag anybody down. * Klizurk shoulders worward through an opening the wolves left, stepping to the side of the Alpha and striking at it with a similarly flashing blade as before. * The blade tears through the alpha wolf's paper-like skin and splinters several bones as it clatters across the creature's skeleton. Though the damage appears at first to be superficial, there was rather a lot of it.
